shane and shane (a musical dynamic duo we love), guitars, leading worship and other similar interests kept ben and andy chatting the whole time we first met! in fact, i’m going to say that they were worse than 2 high school girls with new cell phones! 
i first met andy at a wedding i shot up north in empire almost 2 years ago. he was sporting his musical talents at matt + beth’s beach wedding and did an awesome job. and the fun continued when we connected again, but this time with his beautiful bride-to-be, sherri!
we met up and headed downtown for some crazy adventures. they were so much fun and completely laid back!!! they kept saying, ‘we’ll do whatever you want….. or wherever, we trust you guys!’ LOOOVE that! it is so wonderful to hear those words…. my creative juices feel empowered, as well. andy and sherri are fabulous and so in love. their friendship is so apparent, but so is their chemistry….. rrrroooarhhh! (that was my attempt at a roar!) we are so excited for your wedding in the fall and can’t wait to see you two again!!! and now….. here’s some of ben + mindy’s faves….. ENJOY!
ben was not able to go when i met alyx for the first time over a year ago, and when i got home i told him that i was embarrassed because i think i stared at her the whole time. i absolutely could not get over how beautiful she was!!! seriously….. ridiculously GORGEOUS. no one will disagree with me, for sure….. especially her sweet, handsome and debonaire husband, david. these two together are not only fun, full of personality and energy, but are also a smokin’ hot couple. (p.s…. i can’t wait to see what your kids look like!) after putting on what i will mark as one of the most beautiful gowns i have seen, alyx and david met for a moment alone (with ben + mindy as snipers in the bushes). just the look on their faces was so sweet and genuine….. aaahhhhh…… looooove.
we then gathered up the troops for some downtown shots and wow did they rock it out!!! i have a new favorite purple wall that worked perfectly for the bridesmaids pictures and then the guys, who were a hoot, i might add, we took to an old favorite yellow wall that we love. we had some serious color going on…. oh happy day!!! on our way from downtown over to aquinas (both b & g went there), we saw this kelly green older car sitting in a lot and i immediately spotted it as ben shook his head at me like it would be a bit too much (sometimes he is my voice of reason). then alyx pipes up from the back of our hot mini-van…… let’s do some shots by the green car! i love you, alyx!!!! and sure enough….. they turned out awesome! we just had so much fun spending the day with these two!!!!!!
the ceremony, the details, the couple, the party, the celebration, the unity, the love. these are all of the things that we love about our job, but most of all, it’s all about the people that we get to meet and spend our time with and the relationships that we develop. we are truly blessed and we thank you for the honor of capturing your day. and now for some of our favorites….. i still can’t get over how beautiful alyx is. you’ll see….. ENJOY!!!
tom and merri not only had a beautiful wedding ceremony and awesome weather on their big day, but they also knew how to throw a party of a reception!!! and we can definitely give some credit to their incredible wedding party and their colorful and fun personalities! there was no lack of energy with this group!!! the super fabulous couple had a special time to meet before the ceremony and then we took just tom and merri and headed downtown for some urban love. ben and i had scouted out a couple of new spots the day before and we were excited to shoot there! these two were so relaxed and just enjoying each other during our time with them and tom was an exceptional trooper!! we have to give tom some serious props because he is not a fan of having his picture taken, but check him out….. mr. GQ!!! or maybe he was just so in awe of how GORGEOUS his sweet bride was!!! either way….. we loved our time with you two!
this group was tons of crazy fun and we always love hanging out with fun people!!!! tom and merri…….. thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your wedding! you two are incredible and we were honored to capture your day. now for a few ben + mindy faves…… enjoy!!!!
when erica first contacted me to see if we were available on august 1 of THIS year and they booked us in the middle of may, i thought…… wow, this is my kind of couple!!! they decided they wanted to get married, they are both teachers with their summers off and they didn’t want to wait for over a year! so i say….. awesome job pulling off planning a wedding in a couple of months!!! they traveled from south bend, IN to meet us for their engagement session and the weather was looking like it was not going to cooperate!!! but somehow…. i have some serious good luck with rainy days. it always seems to rain right before or right after we have our sessions!!! we hit some new spots downtown that i had been wanting to try and we did a mixture of urban, industrial and “fieldy” (yes, a new mindy word… it’s my blog, i can make up words if i want to)!
steve and erica were completely smitten and happy the whole time we were together. they smiled, laughed, joked and just had fun with each other. it is so evident that they are best friends. they have contagious spirits that make you want to go dance….. or at least something active. we had so much fun with them and can’t wait to shoot their wedding in just a couple of weeks!!! here are some of our favorites from our evening together…….. enjoy!!!!
oh where do i begin with this family?!!! let’s start with kyle. kyle and i went to high school together, in fact, he was one of my “3 weeker” boyfriends. but that was short lived as we realized that we were just great friends. we had a pretty close knit group that we hung out with, so kyle and i were together a lot. i’m sure he could tell you MANY stories about me, but he won’t, of course, since i could post MANY stories about him on our blog. julie is his fabulous, beautiful, fun, sweet other half and i fell in love with her the first time we met!!! but the real star of the show is sweet, handsome and ADORABLE kenton!!!! these 3 are some of our favorite people and we frequently see them when we are in chicago, (but not nearly enough)! this past time we were there, we just had to do a session since kenton had just marked a very important milestone in his life…. TURNING ONE!!! we headed down to the marina since kyle and julie love the water and sailing. and of course, we found some urban and rustic stuff around there. i can find gritty anywhere!
**rewind…… i forgot to tell you how we reconnected again after years…… i ran into kyle and julie at a wedding i was shooting with my friend, kelly powers! it was such a random reunion, but kyle had gone to college with the groom and there we all were! so kyle and julie mentioned they were in chicago, i told them we’d call next time we were in town, and the rest, my friend……. is history!!!
we LOVE hanging out with you and always appreciate your generous spirit of opening your home whenever we are there! here are a few faves from our time together……. you 3 ROCK! we love you guys!!!! enjoy your preview……..
